Montana State University News Release: Montana State University Academic Technology and Outreachand the Montana Water Center will offer a free online course highlighting key issues and topics on water quality. “Water Quality Basics,” which is currently live, has been funded through Montana NSF EPSCoR.

CREWS Workforce Development Seed Award Profile: Dr. Ashley Beck
In 2020, Dr. Ashley Beck, an Assistant Professor of Biology at Carroll College in Helena, was awarded a workforce development seed grant from the Montana NSF EPSCoR Consortium for Research on Environmental Water Systems (CREWS). The objective of her seed grant project was to develop a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) for students at Carroll College.
CREWS Workforce Development Seed Award Profile: Georgia Smies
In Year 3 of the CREWS project, Georgia Smies, an instructor in the Fisheries and Wildlife Program at Salish Kootenai College (SKC) was awarded a CREWS seed grant to improve Category 1 wetland characterization using remote sensing tools and environmental DNA. As a CREWS seed grant recipient, Georgia Smies has accomplished a great deal with her award and research.

Dr. Aaron Thomas Leads $10M Project to Advance Native American STEM Education Across the West
Dr. Aaron Thomas, Diversity and Inclusion lead on the CREWS project, will act as the Principal Investigator for a new grant that funds Cultivating Indigenous Research Communities for Leadership in Education, or the CIRCLES Alliance.

Dr. Jerry Downey receives 2023 Montana Tech Lifetime Distinguished Researcher Award
Dr. Jerry Downey, the Goldcorp Professor of Extractive Metallurgy at Montana Tech (MTU) and a co-PI on the Montana NSF EPSCoR CREWS project, was recently named the recipient of the 2023 Montana Tech Lifetime Distinguished Researcher Award.
