CREWS Year 3 Innovation & Commercialization Internships

CREWS Year 3 Innovation & Commercialization Internships

The internship application process for the Year 3 CREWS Innovation & Commercialization Internship program is open to all CREWS students and/or postdocs who have an innovation and/or commercialization idea associated with the CREWS project.

We have funds for four Innovation & Commercialization internships of $4000 each (renewable for an additional term with solid progress).  These monies are intended to provide additional support for the student as they participate in this training opportunity, since it is an additional commitment beyond the research responsibilities.

More information about CREWS Commercialization Internships and Year 2 internship projects can be found here: https://www.mtnsfepscor.org/projects/crews/broader-engagement/commercialization.

Ideally, the internship would include a partner (such as an agency, NGO, or private business) that may have expertise in or an interest in the innovation idea. Alternatively, the internship could be used by a student to explore a potential career opportunity (e.g., the internship funds would support their placement with an industry partner for a period of time to pursue a project with them).

If you have an idea for a relevant internship, please email the following information to info@mtnsfepscor.orgSubmissions should come from CREWS faculty (students, please work with your advisor to develop your internship application). Deadline for applications is September 15, 2020; if you have an opportunity that needs more immediate feedback please contact Jakki Mohr (Jakki.Mohr@business.umt.edu).

  1. A brief description of the idea for innovation, including what problem it solves and who anticipated users might be
  2. Name of the student and a brief bio
  3. The timing for the internship (anticipated start date; commitment of student hours to the internship).

Anticipated deliverables coming out of these internships, in addition to an evaluation of the commercial potential of the innovation idea and next steps in the process, will include a brief student presentation at the next CREWS All Hands meeting.
