Immersion Presents is a national science education program geared toward children in grades 5-8 and brings the excitement of discovery and scientific exploration to children through a variety of engaging materials. Founded by Dr. Robert Ballard, oceanographer and science education innovator, Immersion Presents (www.immersionpresents.org) creates informal science education curriculum and supplemental materials based on live scientific expeditions and disseminates the content nationally using a combination of live broadcast, interactive web sites, Internet2 channel, and print materials. Immersion Presents will partner with Montana to produce live expedition programs, and disseminate Montana NSF EPSCoR research focus area outreach materials using their national marketing and distribution plan. Dr. Ballard has a long-standing involvement in research related to extreme environments, thermal vents, and the thermal features of Yellowstone National Park and is enthusiastic about the opportunity to establish a collaborative outreach partnership with Montana NSF EPSCoR. Immersion Presents (partially funded by NOAA), Montana State University’s Extended University and Burns Technology Center all contribute technical support, science education and instructional design expertise to the project, enhancing the financial support provided by Montana NSF EPSCoR.
