Montana Indians and Science Program is a collaboration between spectrUM and the Indian Hall of Fame (IHF). The hands-on science exhibition, Hand Drums and the Science of Sound, will tour with the Hall’s Song Keepers exhibition in 2007, visiting every Montana tribal college, reservation and spectrUM, providing presentations and live demonstrations by native drum makers (Tachini Pete, Al Chandler Goodstrike). The IHF–spectrUM collaboration will usher in a new approach for Montana NSF EPSCoR outreach—the recognition of the contribution of native peoples to science and technology. Several additional collaborations are planned for 2007-2010 including: native peoples contributions to medicine and drugs, ecology, and the preservation of Montana’s rivers and other natural resources.
