The Montana NSF EPSCoR Program recognizes the need for a coherent and effective management plan and team in order to successfully implement and assess the programs it supports. Montana NSF EPSCoR prides itself on a long track record of experienced, efficient and effective management. In 2003, we became the first EPSCoR state to alternate the lead between institutions (MSU and UM) as a way to foster programmatic integration across the state. The overall Program Director resides at the lead institution, while the Co-Director is located within the other university. In the 2007-2010 RII award period, the lead for EPSCoR management returns to MSU. Montana has found that by sharing and alternating institutional leadership both universities remain committed to their state partnership.
